I want to show you some dates: 1840,1856, and 1883. They are the dates of the first opium war, the second opium war, and the Sino-France war. Those foreign soldiers drove their ships into our ports.

我想向大家展示一組數(shù)字：1840，1856，1883。它們分別代表第一次鴉片戰(zhàn)爭，第二次鴉片戰(zhàn)爭和中法戰(zhàn)爭爆發(fā)的時(shí)間。

However, the situation changed by the foundation of new china in 1949. We Chinese have risen to our feet. After ending the years when the foreign imperialists enslaved our Chinese, we found our territory and sovereignty. And now, China has once again emerged as a world power. Last year, I got a chance to be an exchange student in the US for half a month and I experienced the foreigners’ respect to China.

1949年新中國的成立改變了這一局面。我們中國人再一次站了起來。在結(jié)束了外國列強(qiáng)對中國的侵略之后，我們再一次奪回了主權(quán)和領(lǐng)土?，F(xiàn)在，中國又成為了世界一大強(qiáng)國。去年，我前往美國交換了半個(gè)月，體會到了外國人對中國的尊重。

For example, when I was in universal Studios-Hollywood, Los Angeles, I lost my way. Then I asked the staff to show me the way to the exit. To my surprise, he said: “it is quite far from here, Let me take you out!” How kind he was! Then we had a talk. I knew he came from Santa Barbara. I told him I came from China. He praised China a lot and he also said our ping-pong skill is perfect.

舉個(gè)例子，當(dāng)我在洛杉磯參觀好萊塢環(huán)球影城時(shí)迷路了，我很著急.于是我向工作人員詢問出口在哪里。讓我驚訝的是，他說：“出口很遠(yuǎn)，我?guī)愠鋈グ桑　蔽覀冞呑哌吜?，他告訴我他來自圣巴巴拉，我說我來自中國。他對中國贊許不已，還說中國的乒乓球打得很棒。

After this experience, I know that we have found our national self-respect and national confidence.

此次經(jīng)歷之后，感到了中國人民族自尊和自信心。
