Ordinary Heroes

My uncle lived a well-to-do life, a peaceful one, neither that poor nor that rich. In order to support his family better, he got another job to do in his spare time. He helped an old lady with her meals as a cook could manage easily. He would not only cook for her but also chat with her to make her last days tolerable, even enjoyable.
However, one Sunday morning found her pouring the boiling water into a tiny teacup with shaking hands. She could not hold the thermos steadily and the bottle was about to fall. On seeing this, my uncle jumped into action. Without thinking twice, he dashed to grab the falling bottle. He prevented the lady from being burnt by the steaming hot water, though his own hands got seriously damaged.Without complaining, he comforted her, as he didn't want to see her feeling guilty. Later he reflected, “I was meant to help her. This is exactly what I should do.”
Now the old lady passed away, leaving a note which said, “My dear, you are more than a cook; you are also my friend, my son and my savior. You shall inherit half of my property as a reward for your kindness to an old soul.”
Maybe a hero doesn't exist everywhere around us, but occasionally we will come across one. And they all have something in common---responsibility, which will turn an ordinary person into a hero.
